I found myself on Lance Mindheim's Shelf Layout site and ran across photos of a NEC-themed N scale layout. One photo in particular of an Amtrak station at night proved to be somewhat halting - http://www.shelflayouts.com/pj4.htm - it just reminded me of so many nights when I rode the MARC to BWI station and found myself arriving in the dark empty parking lot during the cold winter months. Thanks Lance.

Wow, that's really awesome.

I love the NEC, and that really does it justice. The only thing missing is the freight train sneaking in past the curfew.

There's some great shots on Lance's site of this layout (as well as some others he has done).  Nice to see he is helping others to realize their dream.  I wonder if this qualifies in him still being an N-scaler???

And what to my wondering eyes should appear... but light bleeding through styrene roof tops!!   Still, as a fan of night shots, that's beautiful, and yes, very evocative of the nights I spent lingering trackside at Edgewood when I lived in Harford County all those years ago...

Lance's work is awe inspiring.  His modeling is one of the standards that I aspire to achieve.
I especially recall some of his Monon modelling that really captured the time and location.

I kinda took it as an interpretive approach to daylighting in contemporary civil architecture via use translucent roofing. Maybe I was so overwhelmed with emotion at the image that I, and I'll never forgive myself for saying this, cut a fellow modeler some slack?

Reminds me of some of our outings to Perryville.  As far as lgiht shining thru.  I just interpret it as light shining on the roofs from surrounding fixtures.

And speaking of Perryville, when are we going to do another a$$hat gathering there before it gets too cold?

Yeah, but the older I get, the more I hate the cold.    Besides, no one brought anything to stay warm last time.
