DeLuxe Hit Hard

Hurricane Irene hit DeLuxe hard. The water flowed through the building up to over 2 feet deep. Inventory was swept off shelves two high! Theses photos give you an idea what happened. As of 1 am 8/31/11 the phones were still down in Whippany. When they come back, we will not be taking phones calls (our hands will be too muddy!) but if you leave a message we'll get back to you as soon as we can. It will be at least 2 weeks before we are able to ship any orders, longer before things are even close to normal again. Visit our home page to see photos of the devastation:

Arrggh!!!
We just got power back last night. Everyone I know out here had flooding in their basement and trees down. We're lucky - on a steep hill, always had a dry basement.

Actually we could use help. Post or email during the day and I'll check from home tonight unless we get internet again in the office today.
Thanks,
Dave

Sorry, man, I hope you get back to ops normal soon! I have a number of your fine 40-footers rolling in PRR and PC paint on the Juniata Division and I appreciate what you do.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Dave. I've a boat load of the CAST 40' and OOCL 20' cans on order, plus those CP Rail 40' boxcars, so being too far away to assist, that is how I'll help.

I am thinking now that any structure in NJ within the flooded edges of a satellite photo should be on 1 story stilts . What really gets me upset is the fact that the building codes and fines for not obeying them is so high vs the total blind eye the town , city , state , government has to selling and taxing land in 100 year or less flood zones . These parcels of property should be parks or stilted so there is relatively no loss or cost to already strained balance sheets . Also if the cost of flood insurance was more affordable to the low risk folks maybe they could get more money overall , thus the cost to higher risk takers could be lower and more of them could afford it . Good luck Dave , sorry you are going through this .
