Good deeds DO get rewarded! New CORRECT Kato GG1 Tuscan Broadband, E8A in Dec

Just announced moments ago as new power for the Broadway Limited:  GG1 Tuscan red in the Broadband scheme with correct Roman lettering and numbers at the correct 16" height (PRR 4907).  New run of E8A units as well (PRR 5711 and 5809).  No pictures yet for the E8A but Kato was made aware of the lettering discrepancies on those prior units, so they should be correct as well.

Of course, the red Gs never pulled the Broadway and were only used for the Congressional and Senator between Washington and New York/Boston (and Kato knows that).  But a red broadband-scheme G works perfectly for me, and provides some additional incentive to plan for a Senator consist.

Good news on the GG1s.  Concerning the Congressional and Senator, which cars would you use to build this train.  I know they were all Budd cars except for the shadowlined heavyweights used in case a car was out of service.

I would think they would.  If I remember the numbering system allows for it.  Don't quote me on that.

I have no dog in this hunt (though I like the G's!) but Kato should do "Brunswick" Green E8s - that's what pulled the Broadway the first few years until PRR started painting them "red".

Sadly there is nothing out there that would qualify at this time.  The closest would be the Con-Cor Budd parlor cars for most of the train, but the observation would be a major kitbash from a mismash of parts.

I do wish someone would do those blunt end obs.  I rode the Martha Washington once from NYC to DC.  The car right behind a PC GG1 and was suppose to be closed to the public but the conductor let me and 3 other friends ride in it.  Great memory.

Hi Mark,

I am with you. Also would not mind seeing 5700 or 5701 with dual headlights in DGLE with Dulux Gold 5 stripes. If Kato used their noodle they could have the E8s in 7 or 8 schemes in the PRR alone. Some may not suit the Broadway but the the PRR E8 modellers would be happy.

If you really, really want to do a Congo or Senator, Union Station Products offers sides for many of the cars, including the observations and diners.   It would be a lot of work to do the whole train.   If you don't mind approximations, the Con-Cor Santa Fe split-window coach and the Con-Cor parlor car will approximate a lot of the train.

I have run these many times and they have done an awesome job of preserving them. They were Conrails Office Car units 4020 and 4021. The GG1's are awesome too.

I did pick up on this yesterday and am excited to hear this, as I was fortunate enough to ride on the CRHS Express which was pulled by these very E8s.  But, I wonder what paint scheme Kato is going to do on the models.  I couldn't find any pictures of the planned models after an admittedly short internet search.  Can anyone confirm the paint scheme?

Does any one know if the Tuscan E8 is single striped as well? Especially 5711. I too would welcome some E8's in DGLE, seems like a no brainer. Thanks
