No it's not.  But in an area where you might need to get to stuff, I'd rather pop a tile, then punch a hole.

Except that properly done drywall includes appropriate access hatches, framed, of course.

OK, today I needed to do a little prep work so the contractor could access the foundation walls. What better way to bring destruction to the house than let my little brother over! It only took us about an hour to expose the concrete wall behind the drywall. Those metal studs were very annoying.

The best part is the remaining walls will be easy to pull once we get a dumpster in. I estimate a full teardown will only take about a day at this point with a little help.

I had thought about lighting a lot. I plan on using valiences that follow the layout outline. These will house LED rope lights in several colors. Incandessant/whire would be used for layout construction scenery work and general operations. Orange and red would suppliment these lights to replicate sunset for photography and operations. Finally a blue string would simulate night-time operations and layout photography. All rope lights would be on a dimmer switch.

For layout construction, spot photography and tours, I plan on using swing-down positionable LED spotlights in a pure white or warm (halogen) color. Floor lighting will make use of CFL high-hats. These will also be dimmable and I plan on replacing them with LED bulbs when they become affordable.

In stead of a row of dimmer switches, I want to have a module that saves lighting settings that allows me to select several "scene" modes. While this may have been outragiously expensive years ago, this can be done with a simple interface and a smart phone app.

Do not get the Bagster from WM if you may be pondering one. Get a real dumpster. 15yd should do fine. We got a Bagster for the CRHS Camp Car last fall and I HATED that friggin thing.

Ahem... If you have metal to recycle, including that cast iron sink, find a yard that will take it.  You could fund part of the new construction with the proceeds...  or at least get the beer you'll need to lubricate the process.

Also, if you have any salvagable materials, (fixtures, windows, doors etc.) call your local ReStore, they'll come and pick it up and reduce the tipping fee of your dumpster.

Rollaways in New England are generally priced by trip and not weight. But like Lee said, anything good can go to ReStore, which is opening more locations around here.

Why? I used it for when I redid my daughters room, it was the simplest thing to do. Granted, I did almost have to get another one because it was filling up fast, but the whole purchase, placement, and online pick-up schedule was a snap. If you just realize it isn't a full dumpster (which requires permits to have on property down here) and follow their directions, you'll be fine,

Oh they definitely have their place, and the 3yd is nice. It just was not for what we were doing at all.

Honestly, I think it's a time thing like can't leave it in the street or driveway over a week. Our town had to put in an ordinance for those Pod things because the didn't have on one the books limiting to only 30 days worth of usage. I could see all the stuff ripping out of the camp car being problematic and probably going through 4 or more of them. My neighbor took a different approach and loaded up his pick-up and take to the dump, repeated as needed,
