The Thursday Proto Photo Thread, 1/26

Well, I never thought crashing my parents' car would yield anything good, but it did, in the form of an upgrade to a Pontiac G6 when the Malibu Enterprise wanted to give us had a bad windshield wiper. That G6 was a NICE car. But, my mom despised it. So that meant instead of going shopping and running errands all weekend, I was able to steal it and make an attempt at some railfanning. Grabbed Hiroe  and met a friend of his at Pat's Steaks, where I downed two Wiz Wits in 5 minutes. Sadly, my day of railfanning didn't go as well. There were FAR too many tools out on the roads, thanks to the nice weather. What we did see is here: http://sean121982.rrpicturearchives.net/archivethumbs.aspx?id=9443

And here's the usual teaser:

Sometimes you just gotta make poor lighting conditions work in your favor...

Have a lot of pics from Sunday (16 MB), but I still havent uploaded them yet, probably won't be up until tomorrow.

This one's for Lenny and Louis. Taken August 4, 1956 at Marieville, Quebec.

Could have been taken a half century earlier, no?

Sean: There is nothing really special about the G6, just rebadge and slpped together from the Aussie market., It is a Ponitac and still sucks.

The following is for Gregg, Richie, and others who remembers the Cannonball

Sept 1968 in Jamaica, Hall Tower

Hi Gregg;

    Great shot.  There is a soft cover book I picked up last year that might find interesting.  It is titled "Montreal & Southern Counties Railway Co." by J R Thomas Grumley.  More info available here;

I think I forgot to post this one from our trip to Florida. It was taken aboard the Auto Train.

Virginia Electric Power RS1 No. 61 sits idle next to the Possum Point Station in Possum Point, Virginia on 11 November 2005.

Compared to a 2002 Saturn SL-whatever-the-hell, it's a high-performance, luxury car.

I'd like to know what specific things you think suck about it, though. It was very responsive, handled and rode very well, compared to the Chevys I've owned and the Saturns I've driven.

Oooh, I'll post some oldies.

I dug these up for Jerry Britton while he was scouting railfanning locations in Philly, and so I might as well share them here.

These are all from Frankford Junction in Philly.
