Dave S., that gantlet track is HAWT!  And Brian, if the Shapeways rendering is good enough, I suspect you can sell a ton of those.

Finally got back to a little modeling this week.

First up, my beginnings of fading, following in Gary Hinshaw's very considerable footsteps.

Dan, I use SolidWorks.  Can't cast the bus due to some funky undercuts in the front.  If it renders well in FUD, I'll put it up for sale on Shapeways under the ESM account.  And then the Scenicruiser is next.

RTS after the Scenecruiser? Need that bus!

A generic late 70's/80's long distance bus would be great too.
I will pick up any bus type you make to help the cause.

got some time to mess with the Heisler a little more today. Fab'd up the stack, it is not far from being done, little more filing, and a screen for the top. Also, I devised a way of moving the input for the trucks up to reduce the extreme shaft angle, it runs a lot better now, and will run a lot slower.


here is a video of pull testing, mostly trying to figure out what the minimum weight I needed to have it pull my Logging consist on the flat and level. I got my weight now, just gotta make sure it is over that weight when it is done.

My etched fans showed up this afternoon, so I updated my MTL Parlor.





Now I'm waiting on the ice bunkers from Shapeways to see if they are detailed enough to move closer to finishing the model.

Bryan,

The fans and Garland ventilators look great!  Is there a source for them, please, or are they something you had custom made?  I have several passenger cars that could definitely use them.

Greg,

The vents are from the MTL RPO, which has a more detailed roof than the other MTL heavyweights.  I simply ordered some unpainted roofs direct from MTL and removed the vents from one of them.  The fans I had etched after much trial and error from .20mm brass stock.

Bryan,

Thanks for the lead on the MT Garland vents.  I will check out an MT RPO at my LHS since, even unpainted, those look far better than the ones of the old RR cars.

Sadly, not really. Been working on work and CRHS stuff lately.
