I guess the last cowboy is riding off into the sunset. No one mentioned stock cars.
What about wood passenger cars, like the one Strasburg uses? They're somewhere between the heavyweights you guys just recently did and the "Old time" ones that Athearn's done.
I didn't see this, but, of course these would come out now that I've built a bunch of them.
Stock cars don't sell that well. There are two specific higher end 40' models readily available: MTL's New York Central class 727-S, and IMRC's Santa Fe class Sk-R/S/T/U series. There also is a 50' car in the Atlas Trainman line.
I tend to agree that a stock car has limited appeal. The town I'm modeling even had a small stock yard in it and I haven't as of yet bothered to figure out what type of car served it. There really aren't any photo's out there and no history that I can find so one or two generic stock cars will be fine enough.
I would like a Watermelon " ventilated box car " . Maybe Kato could make one with exploding watermelons ?
I'd also love modern bulkheads. Sorely missed, and a car I need a ton of to properly model the CFNR.I'd also echo the sentiments on different variations on the 89' flat. The California Northern interchange run to the UP used Trailer Train JTTX900000 series 89' flats.
See i'm not the only one who wants a watermelon car. Some of these oldies wound up as word equipment late in life.
Joe[snip]My request release a Tank Train (many schemes)with body mounts and let it ride a little lower.ThanksG
