Yes, this is my other circus train made up of the new MT cars (I re-worked them quite a bit).  I cut the skirts off the coaches/sleepers, replaced the six wheel trucks with four wheel trucks, body mounted 1015's to all the passenger cars, pulled the drawbars out of the flats and body mounted the couplers, and I replaced all the wheels with FVM metal ones.  In addition, I added a bunch of vehicles to the train to make it more realistic.  I'm happy with the result.  The 32 car train looks good on the layout.  It is quite long. 

The flats that I have been talking about on this thread are 72' ones from my 1940's ringling train.  There is a video of that train on youtube.  Seach for mod u trak and look at the creator of the videos.  Look under his other videos and you should find the movie of my "old" circus train.

Yes, I need to fix that.     Those are the old Model Power cars and they were what I had laying around when I built the train.  On my "to do" list is to replace them with the new MT heavyweights.

If you're referring to the "old" train, most of the wagons are scratch built from various RBBB plans.  I grew up in Baraboo and my dad is a big circus nut so he has loads of research on the subject.

There are some resin kits mixed in as well.  I believe the company was Raintree and then sold the molds to someone else and then that company went out of business.  They pop up on ebay once in a while (there are actually a few up for auction right now).

More curiosity... where'd you get the plans?

Have you ever seen the Marks Metallmodellclassics circus trailers? There's a pole trailer, dressing room trailer, and a bunch of other trailers and buggies. There's also an assembled big top, tres nice. It's definitely geared towards European circus modelers, but IMO would also work for US.

Personally, I'm not aiming to model a proto circus train for lack of enough information, just want to get a good feel of one. Instead, I plan on modeling a fictional one - stealing the Circus Alekan moniker from a German film and just having fun with it.

Well my HW RPO circus just rolled into town . Maybe other circus HW's are in MTL's plans . Got to admit this looks pretty good .
