At least two.  It can be painted in CGW too!

Not sure of the providence of that CGW car or its C&NW cousin - http://www.flickr.com/photos/streetcarbrad/1403962737/ - but the St. Maries had one, and ran it too. http://www.railvids.com/Rick/Stmaries/Stmaries.jpg

What about the Milwaukee BCR crew car scheme Walthers did on its model - http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/PhotoDetails.asp?ShowDESC=N&ProductCode=932-7677 - was that real?

I wonder if these will use an underframe that looks just like Athearn's bay window caboose...

Isn't the little door on the side used to store fusees?

That's awesome. I definitely don't need one, but I love seeing stuff like this getting done.

+1

Here's one from '87

Whoa, someone got sloppy with the body-mount couplers on this one...

And '87

http://johnhill_3009.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=646216

I would like one for around '78 which led to the question about the renumbering.  I'm also curious about the small side door.  I assume it's some sort of heater.

Jason

This is a Thrall built, not a rib side. The small door gave access to tools, coupler knuckles, etc. Most of the rib sides had a rectangular oil tank installed around 1958 on the side opposite the tool door.

So Mike, is Matt going to run you a few of these in CGW??? Saw that one when I was out in Elizabeth a few years ago. I have eaten in the one in Milton, Wi painted in yellow & green to match the loco that was never actually a C&NW engine either! Oh well, at least there are some proto's for Walthers & Concor!!!  ;)

The way I see it, someone put fresh paint on it so it survives a little longer.  And someday someone can return it to its proper livery.

So, if there's a Milwaukee caboose in CGW paint, and a CGW caboose in C&NW paint, then there must be a C&NW caboose somewhere in Milwaukee paint, right? And who knows Kevin Bacon here?
