Finished the building stage of my Norfolk Southern coach; now to paint it.  I need to get a move on with it as I'm trying to get it done in time for the NSHS meeting in Oakboro, NC here in two weeks (the 16th).

Thanks for letting me bring L&N #4055 over and run it on the layout at the last ops session.  It had been sitting in storage for so long (nothing's running on my layout in its current condition) that I had to pull the shell off and spin the motor by hand to get it started.  Then, it took several minutes to get it to even run at a slow speed before finally warming up and running properly.

But, ultimately, I had a lot of fun with #4055 that night, and it may have been one of the harder working locomotives at the ops session.  It started the night as the switcher in Tucker, Greenspring, and Armstrong; became a real-life helper to get Ray's PRR train up the hill (we later determined that train was dragging the B-unit in the A-B-A set of F-units); and was finally used as the power on a local from one end of the layout to the other.  That was, of course, before it was "destroyed" at the end of the night in the fiery, fatal cornfield meet with Ray's very same ghost train.

I think I got the photos thing figured out.

This isn't this weekends project, but it's my first photos to share so far!




One of the first airbrush weathering jobs I did.  Came out a little heavy, but overall, I'm happy with it.  (My photos aren't the best)


The box car I made sure to go a little lighter on.

The rust is a bit heavy to have such small splotches, I would tone that down.  You should also add a touch of exhaust stain around the stack.

Except for some truck replacements not much this week.  Was too busy getting a new computer since the CPU on my old one went out (less than 2 years old) and warranty expired.  Also had to take my older boy home after getting an ACL operation at Ann Arundal Hospital.  He'll be on rehad for a month.  Told him his snowboarding would get to him sooner or later.

Finally assembled the wall structure for the northwest bank of the Kankakee River on my module:



The right-hand side is some of the block-work I made with a Silhouette-cut stencil and paintable caulk on styrene.

Space quarterlies, good reading. Looks like David Popp is going full blown with
his New Haven layout.

Been busy with trying to get my car set up for drag racing.

Going 100% trying to chair a Kinsmen committee bringing the "Portraits of Honour"; a 45' x 10' oil painted mural of all 155 brave Canadians that have made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Afghanistan, that is coming to our city on July 2nd. That task is both and honour and a trust to me so modeling will be second place for a while; but I did start test fitting and researching my two Briggs M630 kits......modeling will be slow for the next little while but that sacrifice is nothing compared to that made by the brave 155, their families and friends and, indeed and all Canadian and Allied service men and women in country.....I'll not do anything this important, other than care for my family, in the foreseeable future.

If you watch the video you will see Mr Alan McLaren; the father of one of my town's former cadets that gave his life..... It's personal with me; Alan is my co-chair....... It's very personal..........our small city of 80K has lost five young men of 155.....that's why it's an honour and a trust................
