Anyone know anything about this ?  :-\
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Phil's post covers it well.  In short, the Seaboard Coast Line and its successor, the Seaboard System, ran a program to rebuild its old GP7s, GP9s, and GP18s, which allowed these first generation locomotives, now known as GP16s, to live on for a number of years longer and even survive the merger to become CSX property.
