You'll need to be a little more specific Iain...

The gons are in stock at MBK, so I will be picking one up this week. Can't wait to see why the coupler seems to stick out so far on the model. ???

Maybe I'll feel differently when it's on the track. ;D

1015 or 1016?

Or why it looks like it's an HO coupler...

Maybe he wants something more appropriate for cars not needing a 70 ton truck.

I gathered that... but unless he wants me to tell him the ASF A-3 with plain bearings and 33" wheels could fit the bill as a 55T truck, he'll need to be a bit more specific.

The couplers....

They're Micro-Trains - that answers the questions.

Craig, my comment wasn't an indictment of you or the model by any means.

I assumed as much, however I just wanted to clear the air.

Which prompts a question from the learned....

Kato has had a 70ton ASF truck part#18-601 (out of stock naturally) under their 70ton ASF covered hopper for some time.
HO version shown here: http://www.katousa.com/images/31-601.jpg N-scale version is the same (only smaller ;) )
BLMA has their 70ton ASF truck here: http://blmamodels.com/images/store/9045a.jpg

The Kato appears to have five helical springs in plan, four on the corners of a square with one in the center.
The BLMA appears to have six (or is it 8?) helical springs arranged in a diamond or hexagonal shape.

I know that ASF made several different types of 'ride-control' trucks. Can someone point me in the direction of further information as to the differences?
Cheers,
Scott

I can.  When you are actually running your trains through scenery, and you're standing in the aisle watching, they all pretty much look the same.  How's that? ;D

(That said, Craig, the new trucks look totally hawt, and one of these days I'll get a bag of 70T roller bearings for my hopper fleet.)
