Okay, here is a potential project for one of these.   I  believe that this original trainset was also used on the North Woods Hiawatha (on the Valley Line), after the next generation Hiawatha cars were built.  I don't think the Atlantic's were used for this on any regular basis, but the normal engines were 2 similarly shrouded 10 wheelers.

Hmmmm..do ya think that the  body shell could be modified (length?) to fit over a Bachmann 4-6-0 mechanism?

No way I would have the guts of or the cash to cut into it unless I  could get a shell separately, though!

I have weakness for the North Woods Hiawatha as it ran, albeit before I was born, near my Grandparents farm outside of Merrill WI.

Bill added the tender decal. I think he bought the decal like six months ago.

Victor wants a PRR E6. I'm not sure that with 84" drivers the Hiawatha mechanism is useful for many Atlantic kitbashes.

Here are some "different" uses for the Hiawatha.  Please don't shoot the messenger.  The FVM 4-4-2 pulled 17 FVM 40' boxcars up a 2% grade with NO SLIP or great effort.  I thought this photo might be a nice promo shot for Matt.  Plus we had a small derailment, no injuries reported, just some lawsuits. 

Is there a "belpeire boiler" version coming ???

I will get some shots when I pop the hood.  Anyone know what decoder, non-sound that will fit in the 4-4-2.  As far as weathering, I don't think I will.  The Milwaukee kept there stuff pretty clean, at least that's the excuse I'll use.  

There is a train show here in Milwaukee this weekend, be interesting to see how many will be running there.  I know of at least 4-5 other MNSE members that have picked up theirs.

Not the DZ125IN. It takes a DZ125PS or DZ135ps which are 8 pin. I'm not familiar with the TCS EUN651 but if it's not 8 pins it won't work.

With an 8 pin harnass, it should be pretty easy to add sound? Right? How much room in the tender?

Per the assembly sheet that came with it, it does have room for sound and "Tender ready to be equipped  with your favorite DCC/DCC Sound system with an 8 pin plug.

Well we did surgery on the Hiawatha after talking to Matt on the phone here is the interior of the FVM N Scale Hiawatha.  Looks pretty easy to install a decoder.  NICE JOB MATT !!!







Take a look at the inner workings.  PLEASE NOTE !  Remove or loosen the rear handrails from the frame before trying to remove the shell from the tender.
