Digitrax DT402 Will Not Work With Fast Clock

Despite ads to the contrary, I have received this curt response from them. No mention of a fix or even if one is in the works.

Fast Clock does not work correctly with DT402 throttles.

Happy 
that I'm staying DT400R and not going to duplex for now.  Truly an uncharachterestic response I think.  In my experience Digitrax replies are breif and to the point, but always a lot more helpful than that.  Perhaps a little customer service roulette is in order.  No fast clock on the throttle (without a field deployable fix being fast-tracked in development) would be a giant step backwards in my eyes...

Mine are not Duplex and I'm still on UR91s. If they had plainly said that Fast Clock was not available on the DT402s, I would probably have been okay with that and still bought them. But to advertise it, know it won't work and not say there's a fix in the works... is just bad.

In fact, things really didn’t work as expected, and after a good bit of testing (chronicled on my Fast Clock page), I discovered that there was a known bug in the DT402 throttles that prevented them from syncing to the network clock. They can set it, and run individually (not quite accurately; an 8:1 speed works out to roughly 8.1:1, and the two of them running independently will diverge by a fast minute or two per hour).  You could use them like prototypical railroad pocket watches, and just synchronize them to a master clock every shift, but my dream of a synchronized time system isn’t going to include them until the bug gets fixed (whenever that is, Digitrax didn’t say anything helpful about plans to fix it, although they did acknowledge the bug).

There is an update coming out that will fix the Fast Clock issue.

Version 1.2 of the DT402 firmware is now on the Digitrax home page.  Look under What's New.  Currently, its on the top of that section.  This firmware update fixes the Fast Clock.
