I'm going to guess that if one were to think about it for a minute, one could figure it out..

Hhhhmmm,

All the "-2" Models built by EMD, subtract from that the ones successfully done in N scale, and VOILA!. Your answer (and no, its not the BL20-2)

Now will all the "Mayan Calendar, May 2012, Planet X/Nubiru, Lizard People, Polar Shifting, End of the World Conspiracy Theorists please keep moving along to the right, -----> The Convention is thataway..."

I think the answer is that the -2 project is what many here have complained is in short supply in N scale right now: a project in the pipeline.

We all want to see more products and we're upset that many major manufacturers has cut back on new N scale projects.  Well here is a project that's apparently moving ahead.

I've certainly been one of those to complain, but the last year has seen the release of a plastic AC-12 and the impending release of the Hiawatha.  I finally got my beloved cab forward and I'm on the list for the passenger set.  As this project gets to pre-order, I'll be on board with this.  I'll be much more on board if it really is an S-2 than something modern like an SD40-2, but either way, at least one will have my name on it.

I used to know what the -2 project was, but then I forgot. Someone in the know washed my brain. So now I am in the non-know group that used to know, but . . .

Oh dear, it happened again.

The -2 Project is whatever you want it to be.  It is simply a mirror of your dreams and ambitions.  When life becomes difficult, remember the -2 Project and you'll gain the understanding necessary to get through life's burdens.

Either that or its a great western road Kato sd40-2. ;D

Wasn't it a scale witdh hood SD40-2? IM could be close to doing that.
Vincent

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

It is a pratical joke playing on the unfulfilled desire for a mfg to produce road specific SD40-2's in N scale... something that is economically feasible now, but unrealized. It is a jab at some of the larger mfg's for having their heads up their arses about the SD40-2, you know, that mildly popular model from 1972-88 (incl the SD40-2F) that sold a few thousand copies that almost EVERY class 1 operated.

If it was an actual product teaser from a mfg, then it is to product rumour what the BLI M1 is to product announcement.

Best answer so far, so I guess I will go with it!  I think I saw one or two on a rare occassion on the BN in the late 80's or early 90's.  I am truly glad everyone had fun with this topic!!! ;D

I'm kinda getting sick and tired of hearing about it. IF its meaning is to do the SD40-2 series, there's not a huge amount of need for buzz. It's the one model that hasn't been widely available in N scale in multiple versions and schemes. There will be plenty of buzz when whoever is going to do it makes the announcement.

Then again, it is kinda funny to see what happens when chuck has too much wine with dinner!  ;D

With my apologies to Chuck stated in advance, that is not him in the video, but a much slimmer young man.   ;D

Lol Carter.

This thing is well over a year in the pranking, so I guess there must be something behind this in order for Chuck to risk a mob lynching for this. ;D
