Re: Laser cut wood decks for Athearn flatcar - PAYMENT PROCEDURE

Reservations are closed.  A total of 150 sets will be produced.

Payment Procedure:  I will be sending everyone invoices through the PayPal system.  Please send an email to RailwirePromo@esmc.com from the email address you wish the PayPal invoice to charge the funds to.  Do not send the emails to my address, and do not send PayPal payment before receiving the invoice.  All you need to include in the body of the email is your RailWire screen name.  Many of you I know, but some I don't, so this is the most efficient way to insure that I have everyone's correct contact information.  Please send the emails by next Friday, February 25.

Priority Mail Shipping will be either $4.75 or $5.00 depending upon how I can pack the product.  Invoices will be sent after final approval of the test shot, which should be in a week or so.

UPDATE:  Domestic residential/military shipping charges will be $5 per order regardless of quantity ordered.  The padded envelopes are not adequate for protecting the product during transit, so the small flat-rate boxes will be used for all orders.  International flat-rate shipping charges will apply to all non-U.S. destinations.

UPDATE - There was a delay in getting the wood from the supplier which slowed things down some.  The samples have been sent to me for review, which I was hoping they would arrive yesterday.  I will post photos of the deck both as they appear and installed on an Athearn car when they arrive.

Test Shot Photos

UPDATE - two sets of test shots arrived today.  The item will arrive as this:

The product is 1/16" thick plywood, with the grain properly traveling side to side.  This is how they appear on the Athearn GSC flatcar:

The pieces are tacked in a couple of points to hold them in place for the photo.  They will sit flush with the bolster tops when properly secured.

Apparently the distance between the bolsters varies depending upon how thick the paint is.  The deck needed to be filed slightly to fit the first car I tested.  Yet when placed on a second car that was used for these photos, there was a gap between the deck and bolsters.  I'm going to modify the artwork so that .010" is added to the width of the outer board at either end of the main deck, so the modeler can file the ends to achieve a snug fit based on each specific car.  I might stretch the end decks as well.  Feel free to post comments within the next couple of days before the batch is run.

This shouldn't delay the production.  PayPal invoices will be sent by the end of this coming week.
