P42 in phase III paint.

From the Atlas HO forum, I guess Amtrak has painted P42 #145 into phase III paint for the 40th anniversary.

Here's the link, but I would love to see more shots if anyone gets some.

This might be old news to some but I didn't see any posts about it here.

I'm torn between Phase II and Phase III, myself.  Personally, I think that's the best looking P40 or 42 that ever rolled along the rails, although that doesn't really say much.  ;D

Just received this info:

Heads up... got a report of AMTK 145 past Point of Rocks around 12:30.  Should be laying over in Ivy City (Washington) for the next outbound Capital Limited.  Probably there now.  145 is the first Amtrak heritage unit, painted in the phase III style F40PH scheme.

I saw pictures someone posted on another forum of it coming through Brunswick. If only I wasn't making up time from last weeks' storms and water main break, I would have taken off and been at POR.  :'(

Amtrak is painting 4 more P42DCs up to be out and about before the end of April and will also have a special exhibit train running from May 2011 to May 2012 around the country.

Oh, and by the way, the internet rumor mill is all abuzz about these anniversary locomotives.  I even saw one claim that Amtrak is bringing back an F40PH.  Obviously, I've seen nothing to substantiate this claim.  That would be cool, though.

Here might be one reason why #156 was chosen for an anniversary scheme.  As of last summer, it needed some body work, due to a run-in with a truck:
