Dave over at Deluxe actually pulled me over to his booth to show me his new project, a real American style 1/160 container lift. This lift will come in two versions, a RTR pre-painted version and in kit form with trailer lift jacks, I can't wait! The blue container lift is a 1/150 japenese version for comparison. Keep in mind this is a rapid prototype and some fine detailes need to be meshed out.

It probably has to do with where the coupler pocket screw hole can be placed without detection.  The 1016 allows for a few more millimeters inward.

On the reef-ah... we used the 1016 becuase it has a long shank... thus allowing the coupler to be further outward, as it is on the prototype

   Nice Reports and photos everyone. Don't forget GHQ did a nice kit for the Milwaukee Road F7 Streamlined Baltic (as they called their Hudsons). I have one and a Con Cor Hudson to use as a mech if I ever get around to building it. Con Cor shortly after GHQ release took their Husdon drive train and offered a sudo MIL  streamlined boiler shell to represent this locomotive. "What is a Parlor Car?" It has a soda fountain counter in the center,and round tables with marble tops cast iiron legs,and matching metal chairs.An "Ice Cream Parlor Car". They were very popular during probition when Liquor and Beer could not be served. Seriously,Parlor cars were first introduced as First Class Cars during the wooden car era and were continued into the steel and lightweight eras. Usually single seats on both sides of the isle,often times overstuffed wing back chairs. Sometimes these chairs were on a swivel base, other times they were fixed in place facing inward. Chairs in LW cars often lacked the tall backs but 1947 Burlington Twin Zephyr dome parlor obs cars had them. There were overhead baggage racks like in coaches, restrooms at ends and usually a drawing room for day use only, no berths for larger parties. Some obs cars like LW on C.B.&Q.had the obs end designated as parlor space,you sat in the inward facing seats in the round end.Of course we all know this right? Nate Goodman (Nato).

I think we are close enough to make an announcement soon.  Tooling is wrapping up now and I hope to have some test shots in a few weeks.  Pretty excited about this one.    As far as future plans, there's a lot of passenger cars left to do and now that we have a few of them under our belts, no reason to continue with the program.!

Something folks need to take into consideration... even the HO line has been stalled for a number of years, even though they were better detailed and slightly cheaper than the Walthers cars.

As far as what is left as far as planned releases by MicroTrains there is a coach, diner and observation car yet to come, with the obsy possibly being released by May (hinted to by a custom painter who will be using it for one of their custom painted runs).  Details would be very welcome but MT so far has been quite.

Trix had B-Boats?  Not that I have ever seen.  The only thing that Minitrix offered were the U28C (appropriate for late-U28Cs and early-U30Cs) and the U30CG.

Are wood by-products not wood?  Laserboard is impregnated kraft paper, so I guess we could call it a paper walkway.

MTL picked up a laser and decided it would be a good idea to get some use out of it.  But I can't imagine, even with owning the machine, that these are somehow cheaper than photo-etched roof walks.  The run time must be tremedous!

I am guessing the sale of Branchline to Atlas does not include research, so seeing N scale versions og the HO stuff is about the same as seeing an S2 by Atlas as well.

Joe, any word on the PD5000 hopper? I'm hoping you go with etched roofwalks on that one.

Dunno about you guys but the pickup method on the tender appears to be a giant leap backwards. Appearances can be deceiving though.

we'll see. Because of the traction tires, there is only three pickup wheels per rail.
