Did they really list the new F59PH paint schemes as 'fantasy'?  I don't remember them doing that for the Northstar scheme.

With regard to the F59PH  fantasy schemes I have one question.............."why".......? ???

I can't have an Alco switcher but the PRR fans can be teased and tormented by a Keystone F59...............

I repeat............ "why" ??????????????????????????
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

So with all the "fantasy*" stuff athearn's been doing are they harking back to the BB days of slap a paint job on anything?

*some of it alsmot came to pass, like the CR GP60Ms.

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

Looks goofy to me, but maybe it'll help Athearn make something I want. ???

Good grief.   You know, I don't even mind that they're doing the fantasy units, simply because I know people will buy them and it makes them money.   But, when people are waiting on ACTUAL schemes to be produced, well that's kinda hard to take because I know they will sell, too.  (Amtrak, TRE, et al)

I had been a huge fan and staunch defender of Athearn N, even though the original F59PH was abysmal.    Well, they've just lost a supporter.  I'll still be a customer but they are now in Bachmann and Micro-Trains land with me now.   Sigh.

MSRP on non-DCC is $99.98 on the ones with sound and DCC it's $229.98

As to why the fantasy schemes. The HO Dash 9 Fantasy schemes did pretty well, we have a few preorders on teh HO F59 Fantasy. What they are probably trying to do is expand the market a little with a novelty item. Probably get them more cash in one shot than new or reissued schemes on the commuter roads. I don't fantasy/what might a been schemes. To me it's better than Pepsi or Smoky the Bear schemes. Nothing against MTL's fantasy schemes, but these are pretty cool.

I suppose this is what they're trying to represent with the CP car:

I suppose it's not the worst foob, but not anywhere near correct.
