I'm retiring - I have to figure out how to properly transfer the track plan
to the foam. The original plan (turnouts) must be #5, using #6 and the
metrics are off. I am losing two inches in each grid. I'll go at it again
tomorrow and watch some more football, like Baltimore killing KC.

Sorry about that, I wasn't aware of what you had on hand. I've re-drawn the plan using #6s. Note that they seriously change the geometry of the plan; you may want to consider dropping the Holtsville Sub track to give you more room for the citrus packing plant. Also, you'll need to purchase one #5 for the switch on the far left, because using a #6 there forces the curves to be way too tight. You still need to get a wye for the right, too. Here is the plan at 1:1.

DKS and DFF - fixed it...the plan, not world peace. I combined the dual track main line
from the A&R that DKS merged into the first plan for The SD&AE. There is a turnout
before the curve on the left and now I don't need a curved turnout or a #5 on the
left curve. Plus the mainline looks more prototypical now.




I loose the crossover but hey...I'll figure out how to compensate. The crossover
appears after the curve - But still a crossover for the mainline. Not the imagined
mainline (loop/curve).

Ooh, I think you will regret that crossover being outside the loop.  The out-and-back movements required will drive you crazy, not to mention the short leads in the "switchbacks" to switch cars.  The prototype didn't have the edge of the world nearby, so I doubt they switched the industries in this manner.  I'd reconsider, if I were you.

If you want the crossover in that location, I'd flip flop it (mirror image), so you could reduce the back and forth moves required to switch that area.

I'd listen to Dave on this one. Bad enough that working the packing plant will be a switchback, but a double switchback is needlessly crazy. Strongly recommend taking this approach, if you must have a double-track running the length:

Good suggestion. I also took the liberty of smoothing out the curve on the left, and lengthening the yard to the right by pushing the throat to the left of the crossover. I think the plan is a lot more workable now.

Like both of these plans a lot, thanks DKS and DFF - Going with the 2nd and keeping
the team track (packing plant) coming off the main to the right through an "s" curve.
The turnout for it will be backed up to the 1st track of the 2 track mainline just past
the curve. The Holtville branch has a wye on the prototype, so that track could come
from the right and free up the track before the yard.
