That CP PS-1 has a roofwalk on it (as per their artwork)... which is great if CP bought the D&H in the 1960's.

Those flatcars are nice, but the IM one's kick their a$$... yes I know not the same car. The Athearn one's were great with the John Deere's, miss those.

Does anyone have photos or roster info on the CP boxcars - are they prototypical?

I've looked at a few sites and all the pictures I can find in that number series are very rusty cars still painted for D&H or former owners...

Hopefully the production model won;t have roofwalks. Same with the EJ&E's.

I will be picking up the PRR GSC flatcars (F41's).  These lasted well into the Conrail era in full PRR paint.  In fact, I have seen two of the three PRR numbers in this run: PRR 469538 at Hollidaysburg, PA on 10/16/94 and PRR 469592 in Altoona, PA on 2/23/97.  I didn't photograph either, just documented their numbers when I saw them since they were in their original paint.  I saved my film for other Conrail goodies.  I really like this model.  Hopefully the paint will be done much thinner this time by Athearn.  The PRR's were run the first run, and the paint was really thick (this has been discussed at length here before).  I wish I could find more laser cut wood decks for them.  New Rail Models originally produced them and they sold the line to Reiten Models.  The only retailer to sell Reiten was www.onlinetrains.com since I was told they owned Reiten.  I called them and was told their was no demand, so they stopped selling and producing them.   He said he had some cut, but needed to package them.  That still has not occured.  I will have to save my wood decks for my empties and leave the plastic ones for the loads.

So the 50' PS1 in CP Rail colours has me thinking...

This is what Athearn says it should look like....

http://www.athearn.com/newsletter/122110/16_N_50_PSSD_box_122110.pdf

Um, as Mike says......"walkway" ?.......don't think so.............

Here's 29658 in 1989...............
http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/dh/dh29658agd.jpg

Um......"no walkway"...........Um....no CP Rail paint yet either...........................now the D&H doesn't get absorbed until 1991 so I guess that makes sense...........

Hmmm......let's see the roster...................

http://www.nakina.net/cp/cp0.html

I don't see these on the roster of CP equipment......

I'm a little confused..............would Athearn "foobie" the ol' CP Rail...?
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Pud, I saw and shot a GTW 60' boxcar on a CN freight in Scarborough in the early 2000's with a roofwalk still firmly in place, though it being a brown car, it hadn't been shopped in some time! If CP had painted such a car as the Athearn model, it'd have been shopped and the roofwalk removed. It's a foob, 99.99% guaranteed.

the Athearn roofwalk will just pop off... there's nothing really holding it on...
I've seen cars like this on CP with Milwaukee or soo reporting marks
but I'd guess if this car exists it's a one off...

Hopefully not as thick and the correct color as well.  I picked up ATSF cars back then, stripped the lettering and decaled for PRR.  I also picked up the green P&LE with the tractors, stripped the lettering, changed the deck and relettered for PC.

I drew up the artwork for Athearn GSC laser-cut decks a long time ago.  If anyone knows of a reasonably-priced source for laser-cut wood and the demand here is high enough to get some decks made, that is an option.

KingMill did some laser-cut acrylic windows for me a few years back, and they do have laser-cut wood products in their line.  I just sent them an inquiry to see what they require in order to receive an RFQ on cutting custom decks for the GSC flatcar.

Because of the metal portions of the GSC deck, can't you use any 50' wood decking and cut to fit?
