Dave,
I don't know how close you are to the Cocoa area but a substantial number of club members live in that area (and work at NASA) and run occasional ops sessions on their portions of the layout- which includes the Titusville autoramp and Cocoa yard:
and the rock pit you spoke of is City Point:

I'm 508 miles from the FEC Cocoa yard. Bit of a haul. Navarre is west of Fort Walton Beach, and just under 2 hours from Mobile, AL. I'm just east of Pensacola.

Yeah, no kidding...! I will say, though, the beaches here are much nicer than the Space Coast, but otherwise it's pretty rural. When there are no BP tarballs, that is.

Dave,
remind me next summer (May June) and I'll give you the inside skinny on where and how to go scalloping in the Big Bend region. Great weekend, and your kids are the perfect age.

(P.S. Don't for get you are only a short Saturday drive from the Port St. Joe route - even if the trains aren't running).

Every time I see those modules, it makes
me
(a dye-in-the-wool westerner) want to model FEC...
