Wow! As a Uncle Pete modeler and fanzee I'am Verklept. This train will be very similar to the Walthers HO one with a few exceptions, the club lounge car, which was on the pre dome trains. Kato should have done a Cafe Lounge car found on the Domeliners when the obs cars were at the rear of the train. When these were rebuilt for mid train use like Walthers is offering Cafe Lounge cars were rebuilt to Lunch Counter Lounges. I know I'am being a bit pickey. Kato has saved them selves some money as the 44 seat coach and dome coach are old tooling. There should really be more sleepers, atleast two 11 bdroom cars when I rode in the 1960's just before trains became combined in the summer a train could be 16-18 cars long. Kato's existing UP cars could be added to create later consists,RPO cars ran after the City Of St. Louis was combined with COLA. Pre War 6-4-4 sleepers were occaisionally operated. Yes this train makes a good stand in for the current Heritage Fleet train. Look models currently offers a brass inspection car. Get one while you can. Sure there is an Uncle Pete bias, but I'am loving it. Nate,

Glad this announcement is good for someone here! ;D

I'm sure it will sell well with UP diehards, and train collectors.

No sale here, but there are quite a few UP people in the market who will drop bucks on this set.

Figured you would like this one Nate.  I rode this train in 1969.  Spent most of the time in the dome coach.  Compared to the PC train I rode to get to Chicago, it was still first class.  I remember the train had 5 E units (all A units) and 24 cars.  Too bad I wasn't into photography back then.

It would be nice to know if Kato has designs on the Heritage train, since if they don't I'd spring for it  and go for the Lookmodel power car and one of the inspection cars.

I also have my "very close" to the "Sunset" - project - which could be used as well...
