First, I didn't know that the Penn Central had GP9Bs, but finding this picture online was a complete and pleasant surprise: a GP9B leading a coal train on what is now the Northeast Corridor:

Just when you think that you've seen it all...

P.S. Now you PC guys have a use for those portholes that you're gonna remove from the new Kato E8s!  ;D

Oops, I just saw the comments under the picture.  You guys are right.  But, where is the cabin and why pushing on the Corridor?  Is this perhaps a reverse move to crossover or reach a siding?

And that, gentlemen, is why I am falling in love with Penn Central.

Apparently there is in fact a documented photo in a book somewhere of a GP9B really leading a train. Apparently the lead unit had crapped out in some fashion and was set off and the engineer ran the trailing GP9B from the hostler controls as far as the next yard.

(Unfortunately I've only been told about this story secondhand, so I don't know where this photo is published)
