If you have the wife with you, perhaps Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore if you or she are into that kind of thing.

Grand Hotel in Fairhope for a great meal.

Flora-Bama bar in Orange Beach (Jimmy Buffet fame).

Pensacola, about 45 mins away, is a fabulous place. Take the "trolley" tour to get a look-see at the city and an idea of its' history. Still has a street with tracks running down it through town to the pier. The former L&N station is now a hotel, but the station building has been very nicely preserved.

Naval aviation museum in Pensacola as well.

Spent a few days in P-cola last month. First time I ever really saw the place and except for the blazing hot weather and opressive humidity, I enjoyed myself immensely. Will go back, but in April or October.

The naval aviation museum in Pensacola is not too far away and worth a visit.

If it hasn't been torn down or repurposed yet, the old GM&O passenger depot/hotel in Mobile is worth a couple of images.  Also the rebuilt CSX bridge over Bay St. Louis (Toe the west in Mississippi) - you can train watch the daily turn from the waterfront just off U.S. 90.  And the Old two story Depot in Bay is also worth it, as are the po-boys caddy corner across the street.

If you make it up to Montgomery, take a trip west about fifteen minutes or so to Wetumpka.  All sorts of cool stuff was left behind when the bridge washed out forty years ago, inluding a Katy boxcar.
