In dealing with the Athearn/MDC 50' coaches how would the crapper windows be blanked out?

There would be a window in the side and another window at the end:

Having never been on a real train or seen one at a museum I have no idea how to model it.

Scotch tape makes great frosted glass, thats how I did the crappers on my WM business car. Just be sure to keep your fingers away from the area that will be in the window otherwise you get a permanent fingerprint when securing it to the glazing from the inside.

All sound like good ideas. I will have to test them out on scrap windows. Thanks

Check photo gels (tinted film) from Rosco.  http://www.rosco.com/canada/filters/roscolux.asp?order=cn#colors
Check #100 Frost.  Glue that behind the glass.

Also use 15% Cyan or 15% Green for tinted passenger windows.

B&H Photo sells Rosco filters.

In PRB heavyweight below, bathroom window on far left.

Chris,

As suggested, Dullcote works great for frosted glass but spray one side only.  Then, just be sure to put the shiny side out (Dullcote side towards the interior) to get the "glass" effect.

Many Cars had Prisim Glass (depending on era) with etched lines. Walthers many moons ago had a decal sheet in HO for these, I purchased one and cut it down in size and used it on two Rivarossi Pullmans. Then decided it was too much work to do more cars. I also used thined Testors White Paint to do the frosted windows on several Rivarossi cars like the window between the kitchen and dinniing area on the Santa Fe Cafe Lounge car. Thhis looked ok.
