Steve,
That is cool.  And all really accessible for research purposes.  Thanks!

The box car unload @ Library & Beeson is very curious. It's in the middle of a parking lot. Or, ir seems more appropriate, it has been surrounded by a parking lot.

Anybody else notice the RDC at the end of Crowe Ave?  It only shows up in the view from the west; it's not there in the other 3 views.

Not until you mentioned it. Who owns the trackage now that the RDC is running on it?

Same directional view, there's what seems to be an Alco S unit and a NYC transfer caboose, with an unknown bay window cab too, on the siding serving the 84 Lumber (unnamed street off of Northview Ln.)

any answer to two questions...

http://www.fayettecentralrailroad.com/

the P&LE, NYC, and B&O Alco were in Youngwood in 2003 when i visited.  i guess the SWP moved 'em when the Fayette Central started up.

any of TRW gang wanna make a research trip to Uniontown - it's only 2.5 hours away (or less).

How can I sleep in your car?  You don't shut up, and you'd probably rifle through my wallet.

The RDC is on loan from the B&O; the lot it's located in is the "station". We watched them take a tent off the train along with tables and setup shop. If you were a member of the Histerical Society (WM), they took the Fayette trains north one day and south the next, went with my Dad it was pretty cool. On the trip they gave a large history lesson including describing the trolley line that ran parallel to the ROW. Interesting to say the least.

the trolley is the former West Penn Traction line - this book was my first "railroad history" book - got it when my grandfather passed away when i was 9.

there is some great stuff in that book.

my grandfather used to take the trolley to work during WWII - he made tank turrets
