mmmm tough job...
zamac  does not glue well.
If It was me....
I'd put a strip of styrene on the two ends
to keep the band for popping apart.
I guess another way to say this is that the  best way to keep the band
is to make it a continuous ,as styrene glues better than zamac...

superglue the band and plastic glue the band keeper.

v

Kind of tough making the band over the firebox continuous...

And the other two look as though they're already one piece. I think it will simply take more careful modeling to keep from breaking the tenuous zamac/styrene bond.

When you glue the bands, if possible, clamp/pin them in place, then add thin CA with needle or pin. Applying glue to the piece, then sticking it on with thin allows glue to start to flash before you install the part, weakening the bond.

This is good advice.

This is it right now:

The black part is an insert that held the light, it's glued in place now.

I tacked one side of the band, then the other side. I added ACC with a pin.  I think the ACC wasn't sticking to the metal. I'll just cross my fingers now.

Changed my mind with the running board so it looks more like Ma & Pa #6 than W & W #89.

I bought some very thin epoxy in a "dual syringe" 3 weeks ago. When mixed, it wasn't as thick as Testor's Tube glue. I believe it was JB Weld "5 minute" (it's very dark grey, looks black unless you have something to compare it with). There are CA epoxies made that are very thin and will glue Delrin together. Bearing supply houses now carry them to lock a bearing in a housing. About $40 for two tiny tubes and a (vital) bottle of solvent. You could try Brown Loc-Tite as an adhesive too. It's the "permanent" stuff. If you haunt an RC only store, you'll find a whole new world of unbelievable adheasives. If you break a $600 carbon fiber chassis, you generally want to fix it. We can order these specialty adhesives from Horizon, but we can't afford to stock them, as the turn-over is too slow for us.

*sigh*,
the continuous bands are the toughest to keep in place, in my limited experience.
Once you realize that gluing anything to zamac is a struggle,
you start adding little blocks to the strip to hold the strip under the walkways
or gluing the strip to the walkway, if you make it of styrene.
