I would expect some reports on Friday...

Convention schedule was a little different this year due to other committments by the hotel...
Welcome reception, which is normally Wednesay evening was on Tuesday evening.
Thursday (today) was the banquet, which is usually on Saturday night.
Swap-O-Rama, which is when the manufacturers usually show off new stuff, starts at noon on Friday.
The manufacturers breakfast, which is normal Sunday morning, is also tomorrow at 9 AM.
Public show is on Saturday.

I guess I am being impatient. I really hope to see some good new products. If nothing this round, I am sure NMRA or Trainfest will produce what I need.

I understand that attendance is down this year.  I suspect anyone who has been in that part of texas this time of year may have had second thoughts?  Steamy!  ;)

Pictures from today's Mfg Bfast and Swaparama/Trainshow are here:

Some highlights:

The HO Fox Valley Models Hiawatha shell:

Pre-production Intermountain SD40-M2 (note I said *Pre-Production*):

Digitrax sound decoder install:

You can go see a whole lot of pictures at the URL above.

Much more to see, including Hien Ngyuen custom locos, projects from many other
manufacturers, Kato Kobo Custom B&M RDCs (note I said *custom* - not a production
run), a few more NTrak pictures.

You really want to check out the N Scale Collector's and Lowell Smith special runs too.

Lots to see in the album above.

Hold on to your horses, the updates and news will get processed and posted here soon,
I'm sure :-) .

Thanks for the photos, John!

I know I'll get flamed for saying it, but the IM SD40-2W looks pretty good except for those cab windows... they are out of proportion to the prototype. If you look at the cabside windows on the proto, the opening is approximately 1/3 the height of the total cabside, while the IM model window opening looks to be about 1/4 the total cabside height... think I need to send an email to Longmont. Other than that, she looks good.

Hey John, any close ups of Hien Ngyuen's CN vans?

Nice pics John, thanks.

Looks like some interesting stuff is coming. Matt's MLW's look great, MTL has another "hit", and Kato is growing its' list of passenger cars.

IM is IM, and IMO there's not much difference between pre-production and production quality. They've pretty much shown, at least to me, that they don't like to "finish" a modern loco, but have no problem "hyping" it up and charging a premium price.

Looks like the "hobby" is growing strong, even with this wonderful economy.
A "western modeler" that also runs NS.

Thanks for the pictures, John.

The NSC NASA stuff is interesting. A few modern FEC modelers should pick them up to model the interchange up near KSC.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

Not just that, the whole cab looks "soft" to me.

I'd be interested in the NASA stuff as well, but I have avoided NSC like the plague.  Anyone know what the chance is those will
go to flea-bay?

Not likely.  But it's possible that BLW and MBK might carry them if they do not sell out immediately.
