Trip To Arizona To Measure A Bridge

Hey all,

I'm keeping away from the scorpions and having a great time out here. I came out this way to measure up the Canyon Diablo bridge. This bridge is a key bridge in the Santa Fe Trans-Con west of Winslow, AZ. They have recently installed a third track (may be a siding) on the east side od the bridge. A Sad view was that the original SF signal bridge had been removed for Safetrans.

I thought posting a few pics would be appreciated.

I found this Tankcar loading platform in Winona, west of the bridge and east of Flagstaff

I took a side trip onto the Navajo Reservation for a look at the Grand Falls. It only flows during the snow melt during Mar and Apr.

Tomorrow I head down to Tucson and some finds there.

Ditto.  The Falls look awesome too.

How exactly did you "measure" this bridge?

Glad you guys liked the pics. Traffic was amazing with trains crossing every 12 min. My brother counted cars as they went by. Most trains has 120-160 cars.

Without going into details since I had help to get to where I needed to be ... thouroughly!

Bob,
Do you have any more shots of the tank car facility?  I'm scratchbuilding one in styrene right at the moment, and that photo just solved my dillemma about how to make it look.

Thanks in Advance!
