I think I'll grab one of those Sac Northern covered hoppers, just because that's where I grew up...or was raised.

I'm kinda tempted myself too. Now that I think I've decided I'm going to be having a salt terminal on the layout.

Someone likes refers. I wish they would do their ACF centerflow in ealier schemes. I would like to replace my old Atlas stand bys.

For the umpteenth month in a row I am UNDER-whelmed by Athearn's commitment to N scale.

I do admit that some of their N scale stuff is very good. Their Ford trucks and Firetrucks / covered hoppers / 40' trailers / Big Boy / Challenger / 2-8-0 / 2-6-0.

But too much of what they are doing is simply the old MDC stuff (like the reefers this time) simply with new trucks and McHenry's.

OR duplicating other products - have never understood why they chose to do the 50' PS-1 when MT has been issuing them for years. And they don't seem to be great sellers for them.

Thought the 50' PS-1 is MDC tooling, wasn't that their last new car?

Isn't only the single sliding door model former MDC tooling?  I thought the additional door variants were new Athearn tools.

Bryan - the single plug door car was also MDC...

As far as Athearn and N-scale, I've got to give them an A+ for the Ethanol and LPG cars - not to mention some of the other new cars they have done.

The SP caboose, for example, is in - or beyond - the league of anything I've ever seen (or owned) from Overland, for example.
