Damn they look good!

Three UTLX cars don't have idiot stripes, though IIRC, this car represents one first built in 1991 or 92. I don't care, close enough for my 1987-89 time frame and Athearn has said that later releases will include more cars without idiot stripes. The stand to greatly benefit from my bank account.

Dave, Check out 23506. (and 507 and 508)   No consp. stripes although I still think they're early 90's schemes, if I recall the previous discussions correctly.

Am I just too loaded with decongestants?  These are all I see and I don't see those road numbers or no conspic stripes:

Think so, Dave.  You're gonna have to share what kind of OTC medicine that is. ;)

That link, one up from the bottom-right.  That's #23506.  And it doesn't have the idiot stripes.

Okay, I see the one without stripes.  Oops!  The road number is 950286.  I was looking for a road number 23506.  It's part number 23506.  Okay.

Time for another Sudafed/Mucinex/Nyquil cocktail. ;D

This may have been mentioned elsewhere, but these cars I believe are also used to transport gasoline too. You can often find where there is a restenciling of product on the right side. I get to switch these and often find #1203 placards stuffed in the trucks or couplers or any number of places.

Um, hopefully they've been re-placard-ed...

I've been looking forward to these and the photos do not disappoint.  The Golden Age of (modern) N scale rolls on.

Looks as good, if not Better, than a MT car?  Not a bad price either!

Am I being silly or can't the stripes be painted out? Some black paint, or white, a little weathering to blend it in? And blacks pretty easy to match. I mean, as long as the rest of the lettering and the car itself works for your era...
