Worcester Unuion Station is done. I need to add a few rooftop details. The platforms have been left off because the ones in the kit do not match the prototype.

Bought the rest of the wood I need to frame out the layout room. Hopefully I can do that this coming weekend, although, I may take a shot at some of the smaller walls (i.e., between the posts) during the week,

Today was a great day to go for a ride, so I took the old girl out for a spin to the park for lunch. You shoulda seen the people at the drive-thru!





In other news the Baltimore and York finished painting the handrails for one or two Laurel Valley GP-20's, only thing left is number boards and she'll be returning home for final details and operational tests. The "Buffalo Line" also took delivery, adding to their steam heritage fleet, a Southern Pacific cab-forward courtesy of the Intermountain Railway Company. Finally the BYR shops also converted a retired 40ft boxcar for MOW service as a track cleaning car, and they are looking to convert a few more for the same service.

I think the historic tags have something to do with it. Otherwise its a case of "looking the other way".

Good looking stations this week.

I spent some more quality time out shivering in the garage, but it wasn't too bad today, actually...  Got the extension built that will complete the connection between the helix and Elkins.

Here it is in progress this morning.

By 6 p.m, I had this together...

as a point of reference, the module with the bridges below is slated to be relocated to in front of the window, and about 3-4" lower than it is now.  It will carry the eastbound main on the double track truss bridge, and the Connellsville Sub on the lower single track bridge.


Then tunnel portal is the top of the helix.


Here's Elkins.  I gotta read the manual on the camera to see if it can do any better than this...

and here's a look at the whole assembly.  Elkins is on the right, the helix is on the left.


This is the last piece I can install on the wall before moving the work bench.  That will set in motion a massive chain of events that will ultimately lead to the completion of the plan I posted the other day elsewhere in these pages.

Purchased a Paasche dual-action internal mix airbrush and a Badger compressor.  I used them to turn this Trainman PRR X45:



Into this Pennsy survivor in 1980:

Went to town on an Illinois Central Hi-Cube box car with washes and weathering powders.  I used some prototype photos as a guide but it came out looking rather more beaten up than I had intended.  I have seen these cars way up in northern British Columbia.  If CN keeps them up there in the winters they will quickly weather to match my model.

Some great stuff this week!

Here is my current project, MEC 590 (ex L&N) ready for paint. This project was put on hold while I aquired the details to finish it. In the end, I used three suppliers to get all the parts I needed. However, I bought enough detail parts for several other pending projects as well, so I should have plenty to keep me busy....
