Jamie thanks for the info on the filters. I had the same issue with the first video that I shot of my layout using GE Chroma 50s and I got the black bands on the video. I will have to get some filters.
Just to clarify. There wasn't anything I could do about the overhead florescent light fixtures causing the moving bands other than turning them off or moving the camera to minimize them.
I used the orange filters over a daylight corrected florescent light bank on a stand to create the sunset light.
Ed it's funny, Bill Denton was running one of his trains and looked at the viewfinder as I was recording it and commented to me how he didn't think he was running his train all that fast, but that it looked much faster in the video clip. The other issue is that when the train is crawling along you either don't get to see much scenery go by in a given clip or you don't get to see much train. Balancing it all out is tough. Would be interesting to put one of those digital speed meters in one of the modules to measure how quick trains are moving.
