Sorry, Bob... your caboose leaves me limp... it's got Reading rain gutters on the cupola, and no windows cut in the end...  Close but no cigar!  The finish is nice though!  You get an "A" for effort, but I'm still saving myself for Heather Locklear...

As for me, the PC turn dropped off a visitor from the Great White North this weekend...

While the car is here in the Old Line State, there might be an opportunity include a couple of stops before she gets sent north again...

Made some progress on installing a rock casting I recently poured from a mold of John Armstrong's famous "Photographer's Corner" rock wall off of his Canandaigua Southern into it's final resting place on the home layout.  Funny... even an O Scale mold can be brought into N with enough scenery. Ed K. will know what I am referring to.

More on John can be found here.

P.S. Ed, when the basement empire gets started, be sure to leave room for a rock wall.  I still have access to the mold.

Guys, it's NOT one of my kits. It is an HO Overland WM NE Steam Era caboose I bought a year ago that had a terrible paint job for $40. I could never restore it to "Unpainted" without doing damage to the finish soooooo ... I stripped it and gave it a good finish.

Sometimes I do modeling without working you know ....   ;D

Hey Lee; treat her welll.... it's nice to see my little girl back on North American shores... see you soon honey....some 16,000 miles later.......

Ya know ,I stand in awe of some the work presented here....I know were all at different levels of ability but "whoo".... some stuff is unreal !

2009 saw a lot of work done on passenger fleets; some more advanced scratch building and some work on a new layout for a young friend...

The CPR Communications car scratchbuild was my most challenging project to date....

Decals for trailers were also a fun part of the year - the politically incorrect "Rothmans" trailer.....

and the not so bad Schniders and Van Kam vans...........

and, while we're at it, a shout out to Tim (BCR 590) for his awesome resin kits of the Can Car trailer... Tim took the bull by the horns and got the shells, details and decals done for these PGE/BCR vans.... these are my take on his work.....

Passenger projects, like the modifications to a WOT resin shell were the major efforts....

Brass sides for the GN dome....

Geoff Gooderham's wonderful resin shells took up a lot of time as the CPR fleet grows...

Scratchbuild a diner was the year end effort....

along with a rebuilt coach into a Parlor car..............

and now we're building a Unitrak layout for Sammy's soon to be 7 year old best friend...........The Andrew Junction Sub.....

2009 was ok..............

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I've posted a sample of several weeks worth of work in the "AC&Y - Spencer to Litchfield" thread.  I'm looking forward to making some great progress on the layout this coming year.  Best wishes to all of you in the coming year as well.  Steve H

here ya go...

it is pretty sad when the best photo i can get is with my phone...  time to invest in a new camera... i noticed a thread on that very subject today...

anyway, this pic shows the mold, right below the ABA lash up.... with a base coat of stone gray and some highlights.. and the beginning phases of foilage...  the really important thing about this mold, to be completely honest, is that it is poured from the same mold as the original on the CS... it is an historic rock wall... even though it is in O scale...  ;)   and i plan on bringing in some lighter green and finishing it off in the next few days...  i have no doubt it will turn out fine....  now ... if only for another camera!

:)

thanks for looking..

for the year in review - i cooked some waffles, ate them, cooked some more, ate that, build some benchwork, built some more benchwork, bought some plywood, cut some plywood, and now i'm ready to cook up so more waffles.

oh yeah, DKS came up with a plan i like.

the layout area/family room is almost organized (crap to the curb!)

No pics, but I'm learning how to work with steel framing, without slicing up my fingers.

If you need some direction, I know the gentleman that did the article in MR a few years back using steel framing.  He became quite the expert on it.  After a few cut fingers.  ;)

Are you rethinking your layout concept?
