So here's a fun little fact.

Guess which RR historical society's convention is in Cleveland next year... and guess which group's going to be getting a tour of Larry's...

It's not a definite yet, but it's looking like it's gonna happen.

The EL historical society had a tour there:

They have sort of been cleaning the place up and trying to build a fence around the place. All the electrical components are now inside concrete wall with razor wire on top.

Check out that F on the far right.  Alaska RR?

Yeah, I was looking at that one too. Looks really interesting; would like to see more of it.

Pretty sure that F unit is an E unit and it is #9925 and has ditch lights cut into the nose. Here is a bad side pic I took in 2007:

Late edit:  It is CB&Q E9A:

Quote
EMD Order 2065A for six E9's (#'s 9990-9995), this was the highest numbered E9, and for that matter, the highest numbered locomotive on the CB&Q diesel roster. It was not the last E9 delivered, the following year the CB&Q ordered 10 more E9's (#'s 9985A-B through 9989A-B), the CB&Q's final passenger locomotive acquisition. This one went on to become BN 9995 and after rebuilding by Morrison-Knudsen became BN 9925, retired from Chicago commuter service in 1992

Chris, thanks for all of that extra information. Shame it's really an E.

Why are there engines at larrys that look like they were re-painted recently?

What suprises me is the one Geep still in PC paint, and what looks like a WM chopcab.

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

LTEX is a locomotive leaser so they are building up locomotives out of parts so they can return to service. A bunch of CR/NS GP15's came in last year

Here they are on the way out the door:

Some locos just get cut up for parts though.

Everytime I see photos of Larry's it reminds me of myself.  More darn locomotives laying around than I know what to do with.

I wish Larry's would agree on a more inspired paint scheme.

That black and orange would be nice, but something better than "LTEX" on the sides would be a major improvement.

Could be worse . CS by order of the law has not yet been applied to the sills .

Larry's orange and black is orange and green (dark BNSF green), but they can't even make up their mind on that.
