Has anyone made an etched roofwalk for the Atlas Trainman Thrall 4750 and ACF 3xxx 3-bay cars?

Once, but no more, AFAIK. Small outfit offered etched roofwalks for these and the old Candian-style cylindical hoppers and some ESB and Bowser, and maybe some E-R Models hoppers/Flexi-Flo's, and such. I think I have two odd-ball ones on the spin-racks of detail parts left at the shop. The detail parts are getting very, very thin.  :-[

I found the Plano Model and GMM websites - and you're right - nothing new for years.

The only makers of metal running boards that I know of are Plano Models, Gold Medal Models, and JnJ Trains.  I would try cutting down a running board for a 4 bay center flow for the short Atlas three bay center flow.  For the Thrall car, maybe an Intermountain 4750 cu ft PS running board would work.  You would have to buy an undecorated kit for $12 to get it.  Or, you could call IMRC and see if they would sell it to you as a part.  Thanks.

I've heard that Plano is the supplier of etched components for IMRC.  I don't know if that's true, but if so, they might sell them separately if IMRC doesn't.  Let us know if you find anything.

It'd be handy to have the supports too, for once you chop off the posts.

BTW, Bob, have you ever thought about doing window "plugs" to modernize some of the common cabooses out there?

Making a sheet styrene one isn't bad, but it's a pain when you then need to try and modernize the windows.

You're coming out with some great stuff.  I would like to see some loco signal boxes which were used by PRR, PC and Conrail.  You know the kind you can't find anymore.  Sure Ed would like these also.

I'm with Ed here.  The Trainman cars (at least the ACF car; I don't know about the Thrall car) are different from other similar N scale cars in that the roofwalk is part of the roof, which means that to remove the roofwalk you have to remove the supports along with it. 

I have an undec ACF3560 waiting for one.

How about the "polkadot" style walk seen on the Trinity PD hoppers? I need to convert a dozen Walthers cars.

The Thrall 4750 hopper does not have a roofwalk integrated with the supports - so this etching will work perfectly...

OK, I added the supports with the proper curvature. It was then I noticed that the end supports would also be removed, so I added the supports that can be bent 90 degrees to replace them.
