Mornin' all.  Was looking through RR Picture Archives at some CR gondolas and came across this photo of 589003.  The caption says ex-NW.  A stencil was used for the CR and numbers instead of the usual CR style numbers/letters.    Does anyone know when CR got these and how long that stencil job lasted?
Photo says it was taken in '07 so well after the takeover.  I would like to model a couple of these but wondering if they fit into the mid to late 90's.  thanks for any help or info

Brian,

These cars came from the N&W via Helm Leasing in 1994, becoming Conrail series 589000-54. This group is a fairly interesting one with a LOT of paint variations...patched out with the NW reporting mark still visible, black repaint with no can-opener logo, black patch job with logo, brown repaint with no logo, etc...

NS got most of these cars in the split, and from what I have seen, all have remained un-touched from the CR days, so it's safe to assume the photo in question is still how the car looks to this day.

thank you very much for the info.   I have some of the  Microscale  4,7 and 8 inch white stencil decals,  wonder if it would be close enough to the style that is on some of these?
