I couldn't find a picture of my first layout that my Dad built for my twin brother and I, but I did find a shot of the layout I built for my kids in 1992 or 93.
It was based on a hollow core door that slid under the bed. Other than getting dusty, it worked out real well for them.

dude, you just saved my life - my son wants a layout - never thought about doing something like that.

At one time I had photos of all the layouts I built as a kid.  I'll have to see if I can find them.  They are hilarious.

I'm holding out hope that somewhere I still have some pix or negatives. Slim hope.

Yup, "Hidden Valley the Layout Under the Bed" in N Scale magazine about 1994 or 1995.

was MR still good then?   ;D

Bernie, that layout must be in the guest room, i've never seen a kid's room that clean.  maybe this is the carrot i can use to get him to get his room in order.

No, that is his room. My son has always been neat. On the other hand, his sister's room always looks like a bomb went off in it.

Bernie,
I always refer to my kids' room as looking like a Toys R Us exploded in it...

just showed my 8 year old the layout that slides under the bed.  the deal is, if he can keep his room clean for 1 month, we'll build his layout after Christmas.

Good deal - but it will only last unitl he's 13 or so.  Then there will be a clean spot by the bed to slide the layout out, while the rest of the room will be totally trashed.  ;) ;)
