I'm happy to see this loco too.  The PA-1 will complete my loco roster on the layout.  I'm going to kitbash the Yampa Valley Mail as seen in 1956.  It was typically only a two car train at that time.



Actually, my rolling stock/ loco purchases have really nearly stopped.  I came up with a spreadsheet years ago containing what 140 pieces of rolling stock and 19 locos I wanted on the layout.  Aside from the PA-1, two passenger cars and 2 more cabooses, I'm pretty much done with acquisitions.

That'll be really cool Erik. I've pretty much stopped buying locos too, but this one has been on my list for a long time. I just couldn't "pop" for the custom painted units that I've seen.

I'm hoping that MTL might do some of their new heavyweights for the DRGW. A couple different schemes for the old RPO's and coaches.

I remember seeing the Yampa Valley train from about '56 till the end. They had some very interesting mixes of cars behind the PA over the years.

In the book Rio Grande in Color Volume 4 there is a photo on the lower half of page 52 that shows the exact configuration I'm going for.  My layout is set in Oct. 1956 and the caption to the photo states it was taken on October 3, 1956.
