And of course Kato wants to make a profit too.

Ron, I've actually never seen that definitively proven. (cough... sitting on SD40-2 tooling... cough cough

Assuming they want to make something that doesn't have anything to do with BN or SF--- or BNSF!!

3 out of 4 of the only mid production locos they've done fall into that category!

Argue back and forth all you want. My money is on Matt. Besides the ONLY GEVO roadname I want is IAIS!

I don't model modern, but I do have a few modern locos ... it continues to IRK me that Kato won't do NS dash-9s.

What they've done with the SD40-2 tooling is unbelievable.

Oh, and when was the last SD45 from Kato?

Seriously though, I'd like to see someone else with "Atlas like" quality take Kato on with these locos.

Who's arguing??

Unless you guys feel that Kato SHOULDN'T MAKE A GEVO, I don't see what the problem is??

Sounds like everyone is getting what they want now...

Kato is a sore spot for some of us, so we tend to vent now and then ...  :P

I personally have no desire to own any modern loco's UNLESS it's a regional or shortline. I've always liked the Iowa Interstate and watched #511 getting delivered and posted a pic, so I'll have that one and a boatload of grain hoppers and FVM boxcars to go with it.

I do hope everybody gets what they want. But we have to be willing to aprt with the greenbacks to keep the pipeline full.

I don't know, but I think that SD45's were still operating on Class 1's when Kato last offered their little gem!

Well, is the demand really out there?  I picked up two SD40's and an early SD40-2, along with a U30C at the Chantilly train show in October.  The SD40's required custom-painting, but such is life.  There is still inventory out there, and maybe that has something to do with the lack of new releases on these locomotives.

Heck, there's almost 100 SD40/SD40-2 Katos in stock at MB Klein ???
A "western modeler" that also runs NS.
