Kato has an sign at the iHobby Expo in Chicago announcing their Gevos Coming next year.

The sign says Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific will be released in Q1 2010 followed by BNSF and CSX in Q2

My friend that is at the show was not able to find out if the cabs will be correct per the prototypes or not. I'm sure someone will fill us in soon.

Good question Chuck, but they have already done correct AC44 and -9 for all those of those roads.

Hmmm... Now that's a surprise.   NOT!

So, in other words, Kato and FVM are BOTH delivering ES44AC's in 1Q10.  Because anything due on December 31st, 2009 that is coming from China is not going to be in the store on January 1st, 2010.

Oh, well....

So many scoffed at my suggestion that Kato would deliver a GEVO first.  How many scoff now, I wonder???

If you want an early phase GEVO (i.e, circa 2005) for UP or BNSF only, get the FVM for now.  I'd wait and see what Kato actually tools and then go from there.

Lets not go calling it an ES44AC until Kato says exactly which version it is shall we?

It could be a DC for all we know and be different from the first FVM releases....

Gary, well theoretically, the C44-9W's coming in December should fit the bill, right? Or did they pick an odd series that doesn't match the other 1000 or so units on the roster???? 

You would have to suspect they would be doing the H2 scheme if they have the correct model now.

Assuming they do the 700-series cab correctly, then it's just a GPS dome and H2 paint and we're all set. (But they've been pretty stubborn about doing the "minor works" first - it's like a record label only releasing Beethoven's 4th & 8th symphonies... Let's have the 5th, 7th and 9th!)  Da Da Da Duh....

BTW, I never doubted you Lou.   ;)

Gary, your faith in my Kato predictions shant go unrewarded... There shall be a place for you in the advanced reservations line for the Kato Gevos...  ::)

But back to stupid stuff Kato does - I know... For example in the AC4400 line, they did the singularly least common version of the unit (ex-CNW) for UP - which could only be used in the most unusual paint schemes - and on a unit that was renumbered soon after it was on the roster.

Then they did the least common version of the UP SD70M.

And of course the one version of the C44-9W without the most common option (air conditioning).

Kato seems to like doing the "red-haired child" first, for some reason.
