I hope they repeat the success of the PS2 2600s (they did a decent job on the lettering on those).

Body-mount couplers on the huskys should be a big improvement, since they are really light esp. w/o loads.

I wonder if the drawbar units will be readily separable or all linked?

BTW did BRAN ever do any huskys?

The only ones I know about are the articulated Maxi-III's (ex-APL) in the 4800 series (DI's APL set is a good starting point) and Maxi-IV's in the 6200 series (e.g. the Kato Pacer set).

I'm interested in the stack cars, but I want to wait to touch and feel before I buy. I still have not-so-fond memories of them under the Roundhouse banner. They exited my railroad pretty quickly.

The Athearns are much improved - etched walkways and body mounted couplers.

They are still light when empty.

I agree, as I posted over at Trainboard.com, that I was surprised by how well the new Athearn husky-stacks run despite their light weight (although they are heavier than the old roundhouse/MDC stacks which were constantly off track even with a weighted container). Even empty they ran perfectly through some "problem" areas of my track. Got to give credit where it is due, they improved the old model, maybe with the body mounted couplers/trucks and mchenrys?

They run even better with FVM wheels, when I got mine I put them on and was pleasantly suprise at how much better they ran than the MDC cars.
