Any Interest in Seeing the Con Cor U50 Come Back?

Wow, that makes a lot of sense!

I can definitely see the appeal. It's not something that tugs on my heart strings, but it's hard to deny what it offers.

I can think of a few other cool aspects of it too.

It covers such a huge geographic area.

Want to model the southwestern desert? You can do UP.
Want to model the pacific northwest? You can do UP.
Want to model the great plains? You can do UP.
Want to model the midwest? You can do UP.
What about the Rocky Mountains? Uh huh...
Chicago? Yep... UP.
LA? You guessed it.
Denver?
Etc...

It's tough to argue with that.

The UP from the transition period in the 50's to the mid 60's holds my interest if I was going to model a Western road.  Of course, taking the City of LA from Chicago to LA in the early 60's with approximately 23 cars and 5 E units up front kind of makes me lean to Uncle Pete in those days.

I wish I could find steals like I used to years ago.Several years ago(right after CC came out with the U50s again) I bought 2 brand new in box U50s in SP for $50 each.Shop was going out of business and was DUMPING everything.when I mean dump...He had 20-30K worth of trains...sold it for 4,000 bucks.kato,Atlas,Roco,Concor,etc etc N,HO,O,G,S.

I would be interested in a new U50, maybe even a U50C, as long as it's not from the company that currently owns the molds for the U50.
You can count the number of ConCor items I own on two fingers, and I only own them because they were custom kitbashed and painted for me by a now deceased friend.

Great response, C855B!  I agree completely.  And both the U-50 and the Turbines sell used because there isn't anything better -- yet.  I am encouraged by Athearn's HO turbine.  It looks and runs great.  I pray that they bring it out in N scale, even though I would prefer the Veranda model.  Con-Cor's models are a bit crude, but they take 11-inch curves in stride once you get all those wheels on track.

The prototype U50 was built on the trucks and (so I've been told) frames of the turbines, so there may be hope from Athearn.

And another ConCor UP turbine tender sold at auction for $102, more than the undecorated turbine and tender.  Go figure.
