I do have mixed emotions on this. I have never heard of Atlas publicly saying anything about any part of their manufacturing process. Having this much information at one time is fodder for the conspiracy theorists.

The other side is that the email read "funny" to me. I kept looking for the part where the gentleman passed away. It will be interesting to find out (if we ever do) on why Atlas sent out this unusual email.

I cant imagine Atlas selling their company to the Chinese. I don't think they are in bad shape financially, so its not like they would need to be saved. What I always thought was interesting was the instant 50% cost of models after the Kader takeover.

I can't imagine making these in America can be much more expensive.

...what you are saying is, they pay now $24 for a SD50 instead of $16 right ?

Kader: Did you know they're pretty great - and the family is going to keep running things the way they always have....   ??!!??

It was an interesting "read" to me, but I didn't really "read" anything into it.

That being said, "money" does talk, and the right offer at the right time, well, it's hard telling.

Very saddening indeed, but what do we do? Boycott all future Atlas products now?

(I'm trying not to fall into the political trap again because I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY have a lot to say in regards to this)

I think they posted it and sent out emails, due to the fact they are mentioned in it. Simple as that easy peasy lemony squeezy

There has been millions of kilo-watt hours of electricity used in "guessing" on who makes what for who in China on the Web. Atlas may use Kader for some N-scale and some HO-scale and 2-100 other companies in China for model production. Maybe Cory and Paul are tired of e-mails asking questions Atlas will never answer, and this is a "bone" for the masses. Kader doesn't make all model trains made in China by any means. They are a "big dog", but not the only dog. I know of one model train company that is planning on shifting production to Maylasia next year. (Cheaper production and less Gov't red-tape.)
Just my take on it. Nobody will ever know all the ins and outs of model train production. Maybe people keep their blood pressure down talking about model production rather than other things (like money these days!). ??? :o ;D
