Thank you for the feedback.  The kit option is not necessarily off the board.  If the assembled model sells well and we get enough positive feedback and or request for kit version we are open to the idea.  What is your thinking on the kit?  Is it driven soley by price or do enjoy constructing models or both?

Personally, I am limited on time so unfortunately have several GHQ kits still in the package.

In my current circumstances, price is a huge factor.  But the tinkering/play value thing is also strong with me as well.

Well I'm working to kitbash the stainless steel cabeese now - and those trucks are tough to do.

It's both cost and enjoyment.  Moreso the enjoyment than anything, as I know that kit construction, when done overseas, doesn't add as much to the cost of a kit as one would think, so the price difference is usually not all that great.

As to where to place it,  A big helix comes to mind!  The electric model is too modern for me, but some big steam shovels would be make for a killer set of flat car loads!

Interesting you posted the motorized version of the 1:50 scale Bucyrus.  Engineering is looking into possible n-scale version for Highland Precision Scale Models.

I am very interested in what you will do. I am no stranger to having to make my own N-Scale mining equipment. A Marion 8200 I am building. A MTL 33ft Hopper and a 60ft Boxcar for reference. You will have to consider the Bucyrus 8750 now.

Bob,

The main body will be die cast metal, other components will be plastic and photoetch.
The tooling model is styrene with photoetch.
