Oh!

PLEASE offer the Caterpillar separate from the car!  Those side booms are used for wreck cleanup, track maintenance, and a pile of other things.  Almost everywhere I see them they arrive on flatbed semis, not on a train.   However, I can think of a number of scenes I could make with 2-6 of them ignoring how they arrived on scene.

Can you reference a prototype for that car?  I've never seen anything like it.

I've seen those flatcars on the DRGW...

I think that in really rugged areas like DRGW or UP cover, they need the option to get heavy machines in by rail.

The sidebooms you usually see in wrecks that come in by road are often owned by contractors - I think RJ Corman is a major player in this business...

Those models are beautiful, BTW, I'm going to need to reserve some factory time in China to get them built, though...

P.S. Lose that cage over the operators compartment, and you can use the dozer model in the late 50's, early 60's.

Well, those will be very nice!  Note though...if you do the Dozer be sure not to make it, or call it a CAT...those folks hold the name and the image very, very close and will make sure you understand the depth of their displeasure.  At one point we thought about having a Cat done for a load and were waved off when I asked for information.  I believe the folks at Norscot are the main vendor for minatures...I'm not up on all the different bulldozers used by the UP...but if there's others like this...http://www.flickr.com/photos/20121956@N03/2524129922/  that might work?

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.
