If the McHenry came in different lengths to reflect reality, it'd be nice. I was scared off Accumates early on for their unreliability (though I've heard they've improved). The MT's bother me for the reasons noted in my original post. Seems what we need is...

A coupler that is:

automatic
reliable
available in multiple shank lengths
reasonably well proportioned (without sacrificing reliability)
capable of magnetic uncoupling
not afflicted by the slinky

Mate this coupler to a well proportioned truck and you have a winner.

The knuckle length on the Mchenrys I have seem a bit long - I'm not too enthusiastic about them.
