The next Caboose Project

Once I finish my KCS caboose fleethttp://therailwire.net/forum/index.php/topic,19019.0.html, I want to do two of these:

I took the photo in September 2008 iN Seattle, at the BNSF Interbay Yard.  Anyone have any history on these cabeese - like what are they currently used for?  And, suggestions on a decal set?

Philip,

Atlas just announced in their summer catalog that they will be doing this scheme to be delivered in December.  I'm sure you will need to plate over the lower windows and add screens to the cupola but that shouldn't be too hard.  I have no idea what they use them for.  Nice to see cabooses still being used for something.  Check out the link below to Atlas's catalog.

  These Cabooses might be what are called "Shoving Platforms" a name for cabooses used in local service where back up moves are required,execpt usually they are scuzzy looking not very nice looking cars, at least they were on BN the crew had to stand on the end platform as the body had the doors welded shut.
