I bought them secondhand at the O-scale show out at Strasburg last weekend (meaning, without packaging), but i believe they were made by Grandt Line. They were gauged for On3 when i got them, although i've since narrowed the wheelsets for On30. They were missing some of the journal caps too, so i used what i had on hand to replace them, and scrap styrene when i ran out.

Finally got around to adding the doors to my engine house, wonder how long it will take me to paint and weather them.  ;D

managed to get some of the subroadbed cut.  i'm waiting to borrow a miter saw from my brother-in-law before i cut the risers.  i managed to corrupt my camera's card and lost the CR BBQ and a bunch of stuff from last year!  hopefully i can recover it.



this is the downgrade from Warwick to Maybrook (staging).  this is across the front of the alcove and will have a partition behind it separating the view from the rest of the layout.   this will be the first area to have scenery - near this spot will be a bridge - the L&HR didn't use a truss bridge in this area, but ever layout needs one, right?

I've been obsessing over trailers, trying to build up enough loads for a decent Z train:




These are all commercial trailers (Atlas Pines & DI Duraplates) finished with decal stripes for the door hardware, Sharpies for the side & end sills, paint for the undercarriage & wheels, and basic weathering.  Here is an XTRA unit with a stock trailer for comparison:



and an older, more grimy 45 footer:

Made some good progress with the SD70M cabs....

I wasn't real happy with how my scratch-built replacement doors turned out, so I bit the bullet and got some doors etched. Chris did an awesome job - they look fantastic:

Here's the cab before the door was applied - got the holes for Kato hand rails plugged during the week.



I was rather nervous about glueing the door straight to the cab, but used a toothpick with some blue-tac on the end to hold the door to attach it, which worked a treat. Really happy with how they turned out:





Got some other small details to add to the long hood this week and they'll hopefully be in the paint shop next weekend. A big thanks to Chris for the doors - they'll really make the difference on these models.

I'm still trying to decide what to do about the roadrailer bumper on the DI trailers.... maybe a resin replacement part?

James, those 70M cabs are looking great!  Kudos to you and Chris.

Re the Roadrailer bumpers, I assume you're talking about the little blob between the tail lights?  On the Schneider trailer I tried replacing it with strip of styrene, but mostly I've just punted on the bumper detail and stuck a license plate on the blob.
